Prachand is an indigenous light combat helicopter built by HAL, derived from the Dhruv platform and optimised for high-altitude warfare. It can take off, land, and fight at altitudes above 5,000 metres while carrying air-to-air missiles, rockets, and a turret gun.
Its agility and hot-and-high performance make it uniquely suited to the mountain theatres where much of India's frontier defence is concentrated.
