Developed by BrahMos Aerospace, an Indo-Russian joint venture, BrahMos pairs a ramjet sustainer with a fire-and-forget seeker to deliver a 200–300 kg warhead at nearly three times the speed of sound. Its low-altitude, sea-skimming terminal flight profile compresses an adversary's reaction window to seconds.
Fielded in land-attack, anti-ship, and air-launched variants — the latter integrated on the Su-30MKI — it gives all three services a common, hard-to-intercept strike option. An extended-range version now pushes well beyond the original 290 km envelope.
